 ● Global Trends Report: Forced Displacement in 2024 is published by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).  

Initiatives Undertaken for Forced Displacement

 ● Global Compact for Migration (2018): Endorsed by most UN member states, this initiative offers a framework for managing international migration.  
        ○ It is not legally binding.
  ● Global Program on Forced Displacement (GPFD): Initiated by the World Bank in 2009, this program aims to improve the global development response to forced displacement.  

UNHCR

 ● Origin: Founded by the United Nations General Assembly in 1950.  
  ● Objective: Safeguarding the rights and creating a promising future for individuals compelled to leave their homes due to conflict and persecution.  
  ● Recognition: Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1954 and 1981.
