The Speaker of the Indian Lok Sabha participated in the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Summit held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

About IPU

 ● Genesis: Originated in 1889 as a small assembly of parliamentarians.  
  ● Mission: To enable parliamentary diplomacy and strengthen parliaments and parliamentarians in their efforts to advance peace, democracy, and sustainable development globally.  
      ○ It features the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, a distinctive body that has, for 40 years, offered women Members of Parliament a worldwide platform to contribute to international decision-making.
  ● Membership: Comprises 182 member countries, with Belize as the newest member, and includes 15 associate members.  
    ● India is among the member countries.  
  ● Headquarters: Located in Geneva, Switzerland.
