The Pattern:

The GS 1 paper in the UPSC Mains examination is designed to assess the candidate's understanding and analytical ability in the following areas:

1. Indian Heritage and Culture

3. Geography of India and the World
4. Society

The 2023 GS 1 paper maintained a similar pattern to previous years, with a total of 250 marks and a duration of 3 hours. The paper consists of 20 compulsory questions.

First 10 questions were of 10 marks each, and last 10 questions were asked for 15 marks each.
