Jaisingh (1611 – 1667)

He was a senior general (‘Mirza Raja’) of the Mughal Empire and the Raja of the Kingdom of Amber (later called Jaipur).

His military career spans the full reign of Shah Jahan and the first decade of Aurangzeb's reign.

Jai Singh received the unique title of Mirza Raja from Shah Jahan, which had earlier been given to his grandfather Raja Man Singh I of Amber by Emperor Akbar.

जयसिंह (1611 – 1667)

वह मुगल साम्राज्य के वरिष्ठ जनरल (‘मिर्जा राजा’) और अंबर के राज्य के राजा (बाद में जयपुर कहा गया) थे।

उनका सैन्य करियर शाहजहां के पूरे शासनकाल और औरंगजेब के शासन के पहले दशक तक फैला हुआ है।

जय सिंह को शाहजहां से मिर्जा राजा की अनोखी उपाधि मिली, जो पहले उनके दादा राजा मान सिंह प्रथम को सम्राट अकबर द्वारा दी गई थी।

Ahilya Bai (1725 – 1795)

She was the hereditary noble queen of the Maratha Empire.

She established Maheshwar (in Madhya Pradesh) as the seat of Holkar Dynasty.

Ahilya Bai was a great pioneer and builder of Hindu temples who constructed hundreds of temples and Dharmashalas throughout India.

She is credited with refurbishing & reconsecrating some of the most sacred sites of Hindu pilgrimage that had been demolished by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

Ahilya Bai's capital at Maheshwar was the scene of literary, musical, artistic and industrial enterprise.

Craftsmen, sculptors, poets, scholars and artists received salaries and honours at her capital and she even established a textile industry in Maheshwar.

अहिल्या बाई (1725 – 1795)

वह वंशानुगत नवाबी मराठा साम्राज्य की रानी थीं।

उन्होंने महेश्वर (मध्य प्रदेश में) को होलकर वंश का केंद्र बनाया।

अहिल्या बाई एक महान अग्रणी और हिंदू मंदिरों की निर्माता थीं जिन्होंने पूरे भारत में सैकड़ों मंदिर और धर्मशालाएं बनाईं।

उन्हें सबसे पवित्र हिंदू तीर्थ स्थलों का पुनर्निर्माण और पुनः प्रतिष्ठा करने का श्रेय दिया जाता है जो मुगल सम्राट औरंगजेब द्वारा ध्वस्त कर दिए गए थे।

अहिल्या बाई की महेश्वर में राजधानी साहित्यिक, संगीत, कलात्मक और औद्योगिक उद्यम का केंद्र थी।

कारीगरों, मूर्तिकारों, कवियों, विद्वानों और कलाकारों को उनकी राजधानी में वेतन और सम्मान प्राप्त होते थे और उन्होंने महेश्वर में एक वस्त्र उद्योग भी स्थापित किया।

Sarfoji (1777 – 1832)

Serfoji belonged to the Bhonsle clan of Marathas and was descended from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's half-brother Venkoji.

He was the last ruler of the Bhonsle dynasty of the Maratha principality of Tanjore.

He ruled Thanjavur from 1798 until his death in 1832.

His descendants have managed to thrive as titular Maharajahs of Thanjavur to the present day.

During Serfoji's reign, for the first time the proceedings of the Tanjore durbars were recorded in paper.

The Sarasvati Mahal Library was founded as a Palace Library by the Nayak kings of Thanjavur (1535–1675), but later Serfoji enriched it with priceless works, maps, dictionaries, coins and artwork.

His library included treatises on Vedanta, grammar, music, dance and drama, architecture, astronomy, medicine, training of elephants and horses, etc.

Serfoji set up the first Devanagari printing press in South India, using stone letters.

Serfoji founded a school called Navavidhya Kalanidhi Sala where languages, literature, the sciences and arts and crafts were taught along with Vedas and shastras.

He implemented water tanks, wells and underground drainage system for the whole of Thanjavur city.

Serfoji established the Dhanavantari Mahal, a research institution that produced herbal (indigenous medicine) medicine for humans and animals.

Serfoji created the first Zoological Garden, Shipyard and meteorological station in Tamil Nadu.

Serfoji was open-minded and tolerant of other faiths. He liberally funded churches and schools run by Christian missionaries.

During his time, Thanjavur was one of the most developed princely states in the Indian subcontinent.

उन्होंने 1798 से 1832 तक तंजावुर पर शासन किया।
