In 1908, Barrah Dacoity was organized by Dacca Anushilan under Pulin Das in East Bengal.

Pulin Behari Das (1877 – 1949) and ‘Barrah Dacoity’

Pulin Das was a Bengali revolutionary and the founder President of the Dhaka Anushilan Samiti.

Pulin also founded the National School in Dhaka as a training ground for raising a revolutionary force.

The students were trained with lathis, wooden swords in beginning but afterwards they were trained with daggers and finally with pistols and revolvers.

In early 1908, Pulin organized the famous Barrah Dacoity which was committed in broad daylight by a group of revolutionaries at the residence of the zamindar of Barrah, in the district of Dhaka (East Bengal).

The fund was used for buying arms and ammunition.

He founded the Bharat Sevak Sangh in 1920 to carry on the revolutionary activities.

Eventually in 1922, due to differences with the Samiti, he severed all his links with the Samiti, dissolved Bharat Sevak Sangha and retired from active politics.
