How is this course different from similar courses by other coachings?
STUDY MATERIAL
Other coachings provide integrated content for Prelims and Mains (including static content which is not current affairs at all).
Most of the students do not know what is relevant for Prelims and what is relevant only for Mains. The integrated content makes it difficult for the student to extract relevant information for Prelims. Such content also increases the time of revision and number of pages.
Still, a number of topics are left out. Students are forced to follow two or three coachings, along with a newspaper like The Hindu, Indian Express, Dainik Jagran etc.
Ultimately, students tend to confuse and get stressed. A number of students even do not appear in the exam due to the phobia of Current Affairs, PT type compilations, The Hindu, Indian Express.
At Synopsis IAS, in PT 360, we extract only the prelims specific topics for current affairs.
However, this course is still relevant for Mains: You just need to update the analytical part and your Mains content is done. Also, pointers from this course can be used as fodder for Mains. Like examples, case studies, court judgements etc.
The Static Portion is not added unnecessarily in this course. We have listed the static topics in news with their news context.
No other Study Material / Book needed: For making content, we start with NCERTs, and refer newspapers, standard text books, reference books, research papers and journals. We update the content with current affairs regularly. After making content for any topic, we also refer to the other major institutes notes to ensure that we don't miss any important point or topic.
Still, the content is available in approx 1/3rd pages as compared to the other institutes.
Krishna sir is the content head at Synopsis IAS. The course content is thoroughly reviewed by him. He has gained 7+ years of experience in Research and Development while in services at DAE, GOI.
CURRENT AFFAIRS Vs. CONTEMPORARY ISSUES
CURRENT AFFAIRS
These are the new Topics in news. eg. Bills, Policies, New Executive decisions, New International agreements etc.
Once, these appear in news, they become Contemporary topics for many years.
Ideally , this content should consume 10-20% part of your notes.
Nature of Questions: In Prelims, UPSC Mostly frames factual questions – “Either you know or don’t know” type. In Mains also, there are factual questions: eg. Questions on 15th Finance Commission recommendations, or Data protection Bill, etc.
CONTEMPORARY ISSUES
These are the evergreen Topics. In news for many years. eg. Flood, Anti Defection Law, Anti Microbial Resistance, Role of Biotechnology, Border Security, Cyber Security, Food Processing etc.
Ideally , this content should consume 80-90% part of your notes. These topics must be covered considering as part of static syllabus. These are not current Affairs.
Nature of Questions: In Prelims, UPSC Mostly frames tricky and analytical questions from such topics, which have a major role of elimination techniques.
These are very important topics for Mains as well. There are tricky and analytical questions in mains as well.
LECTURES
We do not waste unnecessary time in selling coupons for courses, marketing, and promotions. The faculties just teach, teach and teach, and do not beat around the bush.
